It's a Goode Life: More to life than peeing in my pants

Life coach moment ahead:

My little life coach has been up to it again ;)

So my little tot is beginning to seriously consider potty training. She officially got her first set of big girl panties this weekend.

This was a life changing moment for her.

Suddenly with this one simple change, she became aware of something that she would have been content with-- without this change.

Up until this weekend she could pretend to go potty and maybe even do it a couple times, but was content to wet her diaper/pull-ups--her safety net. Truth is, until big girl panties came into her life, she really never knew how awful wetting her pants could be or even how she could keep from wetting in her diapers.

Big girl panties came right in her life and changed the stakes.

Makes me wonder if sometimes we aren't wearing diapers in life and we need some big girl panties to wake us up and tell us that there is more to life than peeing our pants...

5 GOODe Thoughts:

Yay for Addie and the big girl panties!! I hope she transitions fairly well for you in this whole potty training process. I read somewhere that if you are consistant with how you train them, then you will notice a difference in 2-3 weeks...and they should be fully potty trained in 3 months. (that didn't hold true for my child though)I "first" started with Rylee a month or so after her 2nd birthday and it was a battle at first. But by the time summer got here she was potty trained; or so I thought! HaHa She had a set back when I started watching a 3 month old baby a day per week. She was jealous and just decided she was still a baby too. So, she began to wet her pants again, and refused to wear panties....she wanted diapers just like the baby wears! ugh!! My oh my...its been a long process with my child. We have JUST NOW started using the potty again and wearing panties. Something must have clicked on her 3rd birthday with her...as we have went almost 2 weeks with no accidents in her pants now!! I just can't believe it!! It was so simple this second time! LOL Soooo, the point of my long winded story...just be patient with her during this (as I'm sure you will) because she will probably have a set back at least once. But she will 'get it' in time:)

My stubborn Livvy girl was about 3-1/2 when I won our battle of wills (actually Toby won, but we won't tell him - haha). Liv knew from about 1-1/2 yrs. old what she SHOULD do, but she was just to stubborn to take the time out of her day & do it. She also had this thing that going to the potty was yuck (as if wetting in a diaper is clean & great!). Anyway, she held her own until one day Toby got aggrevated & told her there would be no more pull-ups bought in our house. If she wanted to wet her panties then she could wear them that way & people could just make fun of her. He never would have went through with his threats, but I still remember their showdown that morning. I bet he stared her down for a full 5 min. with her glaring right back. Finally she said "Fine!" and stomped off. To this day she's only had 1 or 2 accidents & both times she was really sick. People can say what they want, but potty training is child specific. Only you know your child & you have to do what works for them. Good Luck to you & Addie!

And, I agree...there's a lot of people who need to learn to put their big girl panties on & just get on with it!

Allison- Yay for Rylee! We are no where near close, but it became clear pullups aren't working for her--they were too close to diapers. The panties made a big difference.

Terra- I couldn't agree more about it being kid specific. I often say... "don't tell me about your kid that way potty trained at 10 wks old..." Lol!

The stare down sounds like it would have been fun to watch-BTW!
