GOODe TV: Go Aarti, It's Your Paarti

Have you guys been watching the Next Food Network Star?

I am not a huge fan of the show, but this season has me hooked...

Mainly because of Miss Arti... she is so engaging and inviting. She cooks mostly Indian cuisine--which, truth be told, I have rarely tried or cared for : / -- and makes it look like comfort food.

I sooo want to try her recipes (not to mention those super cute hair accessories).

She makes me think I have totally misjudged this type of food... perhaps after just one trip to India Garden and that bad incident with a chicken bone (which we won't talk about)-- I didn't exactly give Indian food a fair shake?

Weeks ago I thought they should just stop the show now and give it to her.

She is like a younger Paula Deen with an Indian spin and a little less butter.

If they mess this one up and pick someone else, it would be a shame... just sayin'

Turns out, she is a food blogger at Aarti's Paarti and has a YouTube internet cooking show (see below)...

Where have I been?!?

So are you watching the Next Food Network Star? Who is your favorite?

Do you like Indian food? Help a novice out... what should I try first???

It's a Goode Life: I heart Pawn Stars

I heart Pawn Stars.

It is like an entertaining version of "Antique Road Show".

Sure Rick, the Old Man, Big Hoss and Chumlee try to act big and tough, but they seem like good people to me.

Truth be told I am a sucker for Rick's laugh.

You can just tell he loves what he is doing for a living.

You can tell he is a total history buff and is genuinely curious about the items that walk through his door.

There is just something about watching someone who loves their job.

(I like watching Ace of Cakes  for the same reason...)

You can tell he is also very good at his job and he strives for excellence.

Again, fun to watch.

Puddie says that it is just cause Rick looks a little like him...lol!

Whatcha think?

Lol!

Goode TV: Beyond PBS

Tonight I checked up on my DVR. Thursdays are turning out to be a very busy DVR night at the Goodes. I have about 10 shows I watch regularly besides Caillou, Super Why and World Word--beyond the world of PBS so to speak. Thursday nights are home to 6 of the 10 and I don't trust my DVR anymore... it has been known to take on a life of its own lately.

Tonight was the premiere of Survivor. I usually watch a few episodes each season and either commit to the season big time or stop watching entirely. I have been looking forward to this season and so far it hasn't disappointed yet.

Tonight is also they night for my Grey's/Private Practice Fix.

I have watched both shows since their beginning episodes. And, I am very excited with the new Mc Dreamy storyline.

A new Thursday show has piqued my interest-- The Deep End. It has potential.

Thursday is also home to two of my guilty pleasures. Project Runway which is defend-able and Real Housewives of Orange County which is not...

Ok, I know you may be disappointed in me right now--I know I am. But, ya see-- there is something therapeutic about seeing women who have everything the world has to offer and the fact that doesn't make them happy. It reaffirms that despite our materialistic society there is way more to life than money and stuff.

Some of my other non-Thursday favs are Biggest Loser and the new show Undercover Boss

When I saw the promos for Undercover Boss I fell in love with the show. It reminded me of a documentary I saw one time of the Carnival Cruise Ships CEO. He took it upon himself to work every job in his company for 1 day so that he could be a better manager. The first episode definitely did not disappoint. I am a sucker for awesome displays of great leadership. I predict that this will be my favorite reality show hands down.

I am also a fan of Lost. And you can regularly hear me say "huh?!?" when it is on.

Last but not least is my favorite show on TV--Big Love. The story lines are always crazy and the characters are insane, but the writing is sharp and brilliant. It is the best written show on TV.

Truth be told, my DVR is in the doghouse due to a Big Love incident. I missed the first 30 minutes of the first episode this season because my DVR decided to lay down on me. Now I saw it an hour later, but I am still a little bitter. I am working on forgiveness... really I am.

Goode TV: Grey Matters

DVRers beware--

GREYS ANATOMY: Last night's show SPOILERS BELOW

McDreamy made an impression on me last night.

While Derek has always been fun to look at on Grey's, I have to admit that I could always pretty much take or leave his character in the story line. Last night that changed.

I really like Chief Derek.

I love that he listened to Bailey (my favorite character).

I love that he was man enough to apologize-- even for things that weren't his fault because it needed to be done.

I love that in the end he treated his staff with respect.

I love that he gave the fired staff a chance to be judged fairly.

I love that he was determined not to destroy the Chief but honor him and his legacy.

Last night, Derek embodied true leadership.

He chose class over prestige.

Team over self-importance.

Mercy over power.

Now next week the writers may ruin this storyline, but I really hope they don't.

Leadership at its best is so fun to watch-- a hero to inspire.  It is fun to watch good people turn into great people under great leadership.

Seattle Grace has been in desperate need of such leadership--if this storyline continues, Grey's should be very fun to watch...
