It's a GOODe Life: Her Own Saddle...gulp

Miss Add is really excited these days.

Mama... not so much...just sayin'

Ya see, Papaw got her an itty bitty little saddle all her own all while surgically removing her mother's heart and plopping it up right there beside my baby...

Ok that may be a smidge over the top... but not much.

I am really proud of my baby who has clocked more horse riding hours that her parents combined, but my heart still stops at the sight of that little wonder --who once lived inside my womb -- up atop her very own massive gigantic animal horsie in her very own saddle.

Guess I am gonna have to just pull up my big farm girl panties and get over it.

Doesn't look like she is going to give it up anytime soon...

Heaven help me when it comes time for her to take the reins... gulp.

This mom gig sure doesn't get any easier with time...just sayin'

A Cinnamon Roll Twist on My Peach Slump

This weekend Memaw Benefiel took my Rhode Island Peach Slump recipe and adapted it to their campfire ways ;)

She cooked up her peaches

Poured it into her dutch oven

Then she skipped the biscuits and went straight for some cinnamon rolls.

She unrolled them to make one gigantic cinnamon roll.

And put a lid on it...

Then grab some coals... with a shovel

Put the oven on it...

Then we put some coals on top...

20 minutes later...

All done.

Love it when you can get creative with a recipe.

I have a feeling Peach Slump will be seen 'round these parts quite a bit in the future... just sayin'

It's a GOODe Life: Trick or Treat, Smell My Feet...

We had a great time Trick or Treating...

And by "we" I mean Mommy, the Pirate and the Pirate's first mate...

Gilbert

There were lots of doors...

...

...

LOTS of candy

...

And lots and LOTS of hugs...

...

...

...

...

Then we headed to a special candy huntin' grounds...

Horse Camp!

There we met up with an adorable raccoon

...

And after a quick wardrobe fix and some dinner we were off...

...

Horse camp Trick or Treating is a little different than regular Trick or Treating...

There is still a lot of walking...

But the doors on houses are replaced with circles of campfire chats eager for a visit.

You just walk around the campfires...

And Trick or Treat your way all the way around!

We had a ball...

One point of clarification... the term "campfire" has been used very loosely here... There is a no-burn ordinance right now, so campfire ACTUALLY means the charcoal we cooked our dinner on... and I can assure you on a cold October night that it was in no way, shape or form a campfire...just sayin'

It's a GOODe Life: Horsin' Around

Miss Add hearts horses, horse camp and just plain horsin' around :)

When she is at camp... she owns the place.

I love seeing the confidence in her grow.

She loves to help out around camp.

And, I do believe the other campers love the help :)

Then of course there are some GOODe eats...

And some not so GOODe eats... when the skeeters start biting ;)

Oh summer... where have you gone?
